Our Materials

We source our materials from sustainable and ethical suppliers to make the best performing boards possible, we use a few manufaturing processes to get to the end result.

Our boards are built to last a long time and are easily repairable if they get a scratch or a ding so you can get straight back into the water!

Plywood

If you’re an environmentally conscious person, you’ll be curious about plywood’s effect on the environment. Well, it’s simple! Plywood is one of the most eco-friendly materials.

Plywood is derived from trees. It’s simply wood that’s attached with formaldehyde adhesive to form a strong material. Plywood can last for hundreds of years, and the museums that have archaic ones can attest to this.

Our plywood is sourced from sustainably managed forests and through our construcion methods we make sure its going to last for you.

Cork

Cork is made from the bark of cork oak trees, cork bark is hydrophobic making it ideal for use in the sea to repel water. The trees can only be manually harvested once every nine years.

Once a cork oak tree has been stripped of it's bark, it absorbs 3-5x more C02 than usual. During the life of the tree there is no need for things like fertilizer, pesticides, or pruning. This results in the cork having a minimal carbon footprint.

We use the cork specifically to add a bit of extra volume to the boards giving a bit more flotation and to give you a super soft and grippy surface.

Bio Resin

Our bio resin replaces petroleum-based chemicals for renewable plant-based alternatives to be a more sustainable epoxy which still has all the same great qualities of its no bio counterparts. The resin component contains 35% plant based content and once mixed with its hardener is ~27% which is amongst the highest in the industry.

We use epoxy as it has great adheision to the plywood and leaves you with a hard wearing KROC board that can stand up to the daily knocks and damage that comes with its use.
